How We Make Money
Below you will find a wordy version of the following statement: We earn referral fees if you buy hosting from one of our partner web hosting companies through our site.
What Are Referral Fees?
Don’t worry, it’s called affiliate marketing and it’s common practice for large businesses on the web. Brands like Netflix and Amazon use it.
Affiliate marketing is one-way websites pay the bills. When you are researching a subject and you find a site that has a lot of helpful information and you think, “Someone put all this work into this helpful resource for free!” that site probably runs affiliate marketing links or ads on their site.
What Affiliate Links Looks Like
Usually, an affiliate link looks like a regular URL structure but with an appended ending that signals the company that the incoming link is from your website.
1. Example of a raw affiliate link:
http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=231038&b=398424&m=41388&afftrack=visit&urllink=wpengine%2Ecom
2. Example of a masked affiliate link:
http://stevenj44.sg-host.com/visit-hostgator
Example 1 is what the link looks like that the affiliate manager gives us. In it’s raw form it looks pretty gross and unappealing. This is because all of the numbers at the end of the URL are telling the our partners that we sent them the link. The numbers correspond with our account and when a sale goes through, we our accounts are credited.
Example 2 is what the link looks like after we mask it. It’s fairly simple to do and decreases the confusion all of those numbers add. It’s still has a RAW link that it redirects to, but visitors won’t have to see it.
Depending on the hosting company we earn commissions from we could get paid anywhere between $5 and $200. This changes per host and sometimes hosts payout differently per by which plan is selected.
Affiliate marketers are just like real life salesmen that get paid commission for selling a product or service. And, just like any salesmen, their are trustworthy and untrustworthy ones.
We have been working with affiliate marketing for since 2005. Not a lot has changed when it comes to affiliate sites. One truth that has remained the same since we started was that the honest affiliates always do the best.
To put our work into perspective; if we did not ever make affiliate income from this site, we would have to shut it down.
Why We Would Like Your Support
We have run lots of sites like this one since 2005. Since then we have invested thousands of our own hours and dollars creating these sites.
It takes a small team of website administrators to keep these sites up-to-date and relevant. Just like any business we look for the best people to hire for the job.
It's Easy!
It actually does not cost you anything to support us. All you have to do is use our special links (examples above) and we will get a commission from your hosting plan.
Please visit our Reviews, Compare Guides, and Coupons pages to use our affiliate links.

Not only that but when you know what you want, for instance, a site with multiple admin access, you can find it in our overview of Site5. It’s this kind of specific hosting service matching where our reviews and guide really give you an edge.
Privacy
We have no interest in having your information. All our information is free for the public and we make money from the hosting companies, not from you. We never see any of your personal information or even have access to it. The hosting companies use our affiliate tracking URLs with a cookie in your browser that tells them you came from our site, nothing more.
Additional Revenue
Sometimes we will sell advertising space on our site. It’s like a billboard. Rarely do we use this with hosting companies. Contact us to learn more.
